Steel is the most recycled material on the planet because it is easy and economical to separate steel from other waste with giant electromagnets. Also, unlike most materials, steel can be recycled indefinitely without any loss of strength. The average home can be framed with steel from the recycled metal of just four or five junked cars. Increasingly steel framing is recognized as the logical, environmentally responsible choice for homebuyers and builders.

Using steel also lessens construction waste. In a typical home, up to 20 percent of the wood is wasted. For a pre-engineered Tri-Steel Home, the waste from a 2,000-square-foot home fits in a five-gallon bucket, which can later be recycled.
